Tobias Barker, MD
Director of Medical Simulation, Harvard Medical School Dubai Center

Dr. Tobias Barker joined Partners Harvard Medical International in 2008 as a member of PHMI’s landed team in Dubai. As the director of the new Medical Simulation Center at the Harvard Medical School Dubai Center, he is responsible for the design and delivery of highquality simulation-based educational programs.

Prior to joining PHMI, Dr. Barker was an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, where he also served as Associate Director of the STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation.

Dr. Barker earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado (Boulder) and received his medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He left his medical school training to perform research at the National Institutes of Health for one year before returning to graduate AOA from UCLA. He completed two years of residency in General Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic before completing a four-year residency in Emergency Medicine at Yale University. In addition to his U.S. experience, Dr. Barker has also worked in clinical training programs in India, South Africa, Kazakhstan,and the West Indies, among other places.
