Developing a high-quality hospital network

Wockhardt Hospitals, Ltd.
Mumbai, India

Project scope:

Wockhardt is emblematic of the new wave of high-tech corporate health care networks that have strived to use international benchmarks of quality to achieve regional market share while attracting increasing numbers of international patients. In 2000, Wockhardt entered into a multi-year partnership with Partners Harvard Medical International focused on the development of high-quality clinical programs, specialty hospitals, and operating systems to improve care across its network of hospitals.

Collaboration with PHMI:

Over the course of this relationship, PHMI has been instrumental in helping Wockhardt to conceptualize its national hospital chain and engineer new clinical services to address emerging market needs. Just one highlight of this collaboration is the development of Wockhardt’s Mulund hospital. This hospital was conceived, developed, and opened on an accelerated schedule, and subsequently was accredited by Joint CommissionInternational, only the second hospital in India to earn this distinction. Wockhardt and PHMI have replicated their quality improvement efforts in Wockhardt’s Bangalore hospital, which was accredited by JCI in 2008.
