Project scope:

The 400-bed University Hospital is the centerpiece of DHCC’s vision of an integrated academic medical community providing world-class patient care and education.

Collaboration with PHMI:

PHMI managed the hospital’s design and development, including concept development, clinical program design, and infrastructural and operational planning. In addition to development of the management model for University Hospital, PHMI has led the recruitment effort for key clinical leadership and teamed with the UH leadership to co-develop programs for leadership and workforce development. A defining feature of this new hospital is its flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing health care environment. Other key attributes are as follows:

• Centers of Excellence in cardiovascular care, diabetes, oncology, musculoskeletal health, and women’s services
• Organization of clinical services along service lines rather than departments, to foster multidisciplinary care
• Diagnostic and treatment modalities integrated throughout ambulatory and inpatient areas
• A Consumer Health Patient Education Center—the first of its kind in the region—to provide educational services to patients and their families
