New medical school for Saudi Arabia

Alfaisal University
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Project scope:

Alfaisal University is a newly established private university, founded under the auspices of the King Faisal Foundation, that includes schools of business, engineering, medicine, and science. The university partnered with PHMI in 2007 as it entered the final stages of preparation for launching the new medical school.

Collaboration with PHMI:

A PHMI team including experts in both academic medicine and infrastructure development assisted with several components of institutional planning, including the development of a detailed six-year medical curriculum that utilizes case-based and practice-based learning. The school welcomed its first class of medical students in October 2008. PHMI continues to advise on the development of the curriculum, develop programs to train faculty, and provide input into infrastructure planning as the school develops its permanent educational facilities.
