Harvard Medical School is one of the world's preeminent institutions in medical education and research. Since the founding of Partners Harvard Medical International, Harvard Medical School faculty have made significant contributions to the breadth and depth of PHMI's programs and collaborations, and have helped to extend internationally the School's tradition of excellence in medical education, clinical care, and research.

The School, established in 1782, has over 7,500 full-time faculty working in 11 academic departments located at the School’s Boston campus or in one of 47 hospital-based clinical departments at 17 Harvard-affiliated teaching hospitals and research institutes. In the medical community, Harvard Medical School remains at the forefront of innovative research and development, as well as education. The School has been home to 14 Nobel Prize recipients, and countless research triumphs and clinical breakthroughs.
